When Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant went down with a sprained MCL on Jan. 15, his timetable for return was set at four-to-six weeks. That was always going to make the All-Star Game on Feb. 20 a long shot.

During the TNT broadcast of Lakers-Nets on Tuesday night, NBA insider Chris Haynes reported that Durant will, indeed, sit out the All-Star Game in Cleveland as he continues to work toward his return for Brooklyn.

Durant leads the fan vote for Eastern Conference frontcourt players and was the third leading vote-getter overall, trailing only LeBron James and Stephen Curry. Durant was sure to be a starter. In his place, an injury replacement will be named from the group of reserves that will be announced at a later date.

All-Star starters will be announced on Thursday.
