After winning the first leg, Chelsea enter this match with a 2-0 advantage. Tottenham couldn’t lay a finger on them at Stamford Bridge but they do have a slim chance of advancing that will prevent Thomas Tuchel from rotating too much. Spurs have struggled to score multiple goals in games under Antonio Conte and will also be without Son Heung-Min which is quite the blow.
This will give us a view into how Conte plans to replace the South Korean in the lineup especially as rumors swirl around Steven Bergwijn’s future at the club. Tuchel also will face a similar struggle as Chelsea has three games in the next five days but are down beyond bare bones at the outside back positions.

Storylines
Tottenham: Conte will look to challenge the side as a comeback against the odds would be enough to kick start the season with a group of tough fixtures coming up. Even a victory with a loss on aggregate would be a positive outcome so there isn’t much to lose from the Spurs side of things. While they are still in FA Cup, the League Cup is still their best shot at silverware this season, which is what Conte was brought in to deliver. Don’t expect them to give up on the match because they’re down 2-0.
Chelsea: 2-0 is the most dangerous lead in soccer especially in a two-legged fixture. Tuchel will want to rotate but he is unable to and an early goal by Spurs could turn things on their head. Based on the performance in the last leg, you’d assume that Spurs can’t put out a good performance versus Chelsea but it is that exact dismissiveness that could cause the fixture to slip away. Assuming that Chelsea puts out a strong lineup they shouldn’t have much issue winning this one.
Prediction
Harry Kane gets an early goal but it won’t be enough as Spurs can’t overcome being behind on aggregate. Pick: Tottenham 1, Chelsea 1
