Former Steelers coach Bill Cowher appeared on Peyton and Eli Manning’s special “Monday Night Football” broadcast and said he told Ben Roethlisberger to “embrace the evening” for potentially the last home start of the quarterback’s career. Later in the night, Snoop Dogg — one of this year’s Super Bowl halftime headliners and a longtime Steelers fan — further churned the rumor mill regarding Big Ben’s future, suggesting Roethlisberger will, in fact, retire following the 2021 season.
“Ben’s gonna be up there (in the booth) with ya’ll in a minute,” Snoop told the Manning brothers during Pittsburgh’s rematch with the Browns. “Save Ben a spot on the couch next year.”
Roethlisberger, of course, helped fuel the fire ahead of Week 17’s showdown with Cleveland, telling reporters that “all signs” point toward Monday night’s game being his last at Heinz Field.
And Snoop would be OK with that, he told the Mannings.
“I’m definitely going after Russell Wilson or Aaron Rodgers,” he said of his hopes for the Steelers’ 2022 QB plans. “We’re just a quarterback away, if you ask me.”
