Who’s Playing
Portland @ Denver
Current Records: Portland 16-24; Denver 20-19
What to Know
After a five-game homestand, the Portland Trail Blazers will be on the road. They will take on the Denver Nuggets at 10 p.m. ET Thursday at Ball Arena after having had a few days off. The Trail Blazers should still be feeling good after a victory, while Denver will be looking to right the ship.
Even if it wasn’t a dominant performance, Portland beat the Brooklyn Nets 114-108 on Monday. Portland’s power forward Robert Covington looked sharp as he shot 5-for-7 from downtown and finished with 21 points and three blocks.
Meanwhile, Denver was close but no cigar on Tuesday as they fell 87-85 to the Los Angeles Clippers. Denver was up 41-28 at the end of the half but couldn’t hold on to the lead. Despite the loss, they had strong showings from power forward Aaron Gordon, who dropped a double-double on 30 points and 12 rebounds, and center Nikola Jokic, who almost posted a triple-double on 21 points, 13 boards, and eight assists. That makes it nine consecutive games in which Jokic has had at least ten rebounds.
The Trail Blazers are expected to lose this next one by 9.5. Those betting on them against the spread shouldn’t have high expectations for them since the squad is 4-9 ATS when expected to lose.
Portland didn’t have too much trouble with the Nuggets at home in the teams’ previous meeting last November as they won 119-100. The rematch might be a little tougher for Portland since the team won’t have home-court advantage. We’ll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
