The Rams (15-5), who will be playing the Super Bowl in their home stadium, reached the game by virtue of their 20-17 victory over the rival San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship Game. The Bengals (13-7) advanced to Super Bowl 56 by upsetting the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game. Cincinnati will be making its first Super Bowl appearance since the 1988 season.
