Manon Fiorot vs. Mayra Bueno Silva off of UFC 266 due to COVID-19 protocols, moved to Oct. 16 event

Written by on September 23, 2021

A key flyweight matchup has been pushed back to October.

The UFC announced Wednesday that a bout between Manon Fiorot (7-1) and Mayra Bueno Silva (7-1-1) has been removed from Saturday’s UFC 266 event at UFC APEX in Las Vegas due to COVID-19 protocols. Fiorot’s manager told MMA Fighting that her team has contracted the virus, but Fiorot has no symptoms and will stay in Las Vegas with the bout being rescheduled for Oct. 16.

Combate was first to report the change.

Fiorot looks to continue her seven-fight unbeaten streak having not lost since making her pro debut in 2018. “The Beast” has won both of her UFC appearances thus far, defeating both Tabatha Ricci and Victoria Leonardo by second-round TKO.

Silva is also rising quickly through the flyweight ranks. The Brazilian is 2-1-1 inside the octagon with first-round submission victories over Mara Romero Borella and Gillian Robertson. In her most recent outing in February, “Sheetara” fought Montana De La Rosa to a majority draw after Silva lost a point for grabbing the cage.
