Lil WayneMissy Elliott and Dr. Dre were presented with the Recording Academy and Black Music Collective’s Global Impact Award Thursday. They were each honored with star-studded performances and video tributes featuring some of their peers.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, Wayne was introduced by DJ Khaled, and praised in videos messages from Deion Sanders and Drake, who joked about his absence from the Grammys since deciding not to submit his music to the awards show. “Good evening, Grammys. Well, I haven’t gotten to say that since 2016,” he said. 2 ChainzSwizz Beatz and Tyga then hit the stage to perform some of Wayne’s hits.

“I want you all to know that I don’t get honored,” Wayne said when accepting his award. “Where I’m from, New Orleans, you’re not supposed to do this … Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. I ain’t sh** without you.”

During Missy’s moment, she explained that the honor, just like others before, makes her emotional. “I’ve won a lot of awards and I feel the same way — anybody that knows me knows that I’m always crying,” she says. She then thanked executive/fellow recipient Sylvia Rhone for jump-starting her career. “I was in a girl group and Sylvia Rhone dropped me, then signed me as a solo artist,” Missy said. “She saw something in me that I didn’t see in myself.’” ChlöeTweet and Ciara paid homage to Missy with performances of her songs.

And to honor Dr. Dre, the Black Music Collective tapped Snoop DoggKurupt and Ty Dolla $ign to perform the Dre-produced “Ain’t No Fun (If the Homies Can’t Have None).” Dre’s speech found him discussing his love for hip-hop and his discovery of turntables, which eventually led to him becoming a producer.
