Ja Rule is sharing his thoughts on the Top 50 Greatest Rappers list published by Billboard and Vibe. Taking to Twitter Thursday, he wrote, “There ain’t 50 rappers dead, alive or waiting to be born better than me… #ICONN #Vibes.”
“@billboard congrats to everyone on the list well deserved,” he continued, “but check my resume… #ICONN #Vibes.”
As reported, Billboard and Vibe created the list as a way to celebrate the 50th anniversary of hip-hop. Using body of work/achievements (charted singles/albums, Gold/Platinum certifications), cultural impact/influence (how the artist’s work fostered the genre’s evolution), longevity (years at the mic), lyrics (storytelling skills) and flow (vocal prowess) as the criteria, they selected a combination of living and deceased rappers who contributed to the genre.
Jay-Z, Kendrick Lamar, Nas, 2pac, Eminem, The Notorious B.I.G., Lil Wayne, Drake, Snoop Doggand Nicki Minaj were listed as the Top 10.
