The #3 Gonzaga Bulldogs will take on the #16 Alabama Crimson Tide at 8 p.m. ET Saturday at Climate Pledge Arena. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous games.
Gonzaga was able to grind out a solid win over the Tarleton State Texans on Monday, winning 64-55. The Bulldogs’ center Chet Holmgren did his thing and had 15 points along with nine boards and four blocks. Holmgren has also now had at least three blocks in his past four games.
Meanwhile, the sound you heard on Sunday was the absolute smackdown Bama laid on the Miami (Fla.) Hurricanes. The Crimson Tide relied on the efforts of guard JD Davison, who posted a double-double on 13 points and ten assists in addition to six rebounds, and guard Keon Ellis, who shot 5-for-6 from beyond the arc and finished with 22 points.
Gonzaga is the favorite in this one, with an expected 9.5-point margin of victory. They have failed bettors playing the spread in their past two games, so buyers beware.
Gonzaga is now 7-1 while Bama sits at 6-1. A couple offensive stats to keep an eye on: The Bulldogs come into the matchup boasting the highest field goal percentage in college basketball at 54.40%.
