Honduras vs. El Salvador odds, picks, how to watch, stream: Jan. 30 Concacaf World Cup qualifier predictions

Despite combining for just one win and six draws during their first 18 matches during Concacaf World Cup qualifying, Honduras and El Salvador will look to keep fighting on Sunday. The two Central American nations are at the bottom of the 2022 Concacaf World Cup qualifying table and played to a 0-0 draw in the reverse fixture in El Salvador. Now they’ll both be desperate for three points on Sunday and you can catch all the action on Paramount+.

Kick-off is set for 7:05 p.m. ET at Estadio Olímpico Metropolitano in San Pedro Sula, Honduras. Caesars Sportsbook lists Honduras as the +103 favorite (risk $100 to win $103) in the latest Honduras vs. El Salvador odds, while El Salvador is the +275 underdog. A draw is +190, while the over-under for total goals scored is 1.5. Sunday’s match will be streamed live on Paramount+ with their must-have Premium plan.

CONCACAF World Cup qualifying picks for El Salvador vs. Honduras

Before you tune in to Sunday’s World Cup qualifiers, you need to see the CONCACAF World Cup qualifiers picks from soccer insider Jon Eimer. He is a high-volume bettor who has vast knowledge of leagues and players across the globe. Since joining SportsLine, Eimer has covered the English Premier League, Serie A, the FA Cup and much more. The Indiana-based handicapper compiled a winning record of 260-133-1 with over 90 units of profit for his community on various platforms over a recent two-month stretch.

For Honduras vs. El Salvador, Eimer is betting an alternate under of 2.5 goals for a -220 payout. The two neighboring nations have only played three times since the start of 2018 and two of those matches ended with one goal or less. That includes a 0-0 draw in El Salvador during Concacaf World Cup qualifying in September.

In that matchup, El Salvador dominated the ball (70 percent possession) and completed 510 passes, while Honduras managed to complete just 206. However, it was Honduras who took more shots (11), while El Salvador only managed eight. But with both sides playing compact defense, only two shots (one each) actually went on target.

Now both teams are coming off of shutout losses on Thursday night and there’s not a lot at stake realistically for either side. Honduras is 11 points back from the fourth-place playoff spot, while El Salvador is eight points back with just five matches to play. The two sides have combined to score just nine goals during the third round of qualifying. In addition, Honduras has managed two goals just once in nine matches, while El Salvador hasn’t done it at all, so under 2.5 feels like a safe play here.
