Sunday’s match between Atalanta and Juventus was expected to be an emotional one, and the two sides delivered. Thanks to late heroics from Brazilian defender Danilo, Juventus ran their unbeaten streak to 11 in Serie A with a 1-1 draw against Atalanta on Sunday. Juve found a late answer after Atalanta opened the game with one of the top goals of the season in Serie A.

The first half saw both teams trying to control the game, with Juve looking like the best side with two huge chances for Paulo Dybala and Dusan Vlahović. Meanwhiile, Atalanta had chances toward the last part of the first half, and Juventus goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny almost got a red card for a foul outside the box, but the VAR decided to agree withe the original decision of the referee.

Atalanta looked dangerous to start the second half, and the opening goal came from an unbelievable long range shot by Ruslan Malinovskyi. The Ukrainian midfielder, after a touch from Remo Freuler, fired a shot from well outside the box and found the top corner of the net it.

It was the first time Szczesny conceded a goal in three league matches. Take a look:

Just when the match seemed to be won by Atalanta, Juventus managed to score a late goal from corner kick. Danilo’s header gave Massimiliano Allegri’s side a huge result for the Champions League race as it kept Juve in fourth place and Atalanta in fifth.

Juve, however, are now nine points behind Serie A leaders AC Milan. After this weekend, we can say that the Scudetto race is a matter between Inter Milan, AC Milan and Napoli, with Juventus and Atalanta now very unlikely to be involved. You can watch Serie A all season long on Paramount+.
