Adrian Peterson turned down spot on ‘Dancing with the Stars’ before signing with Titans

Adrian Peterson will make his return to the NFL on Sunday night when his new Titans squad takes on the Rams in Los Angeles. The future Hall of Fame running back was quickly signed by Tennessee in the aftermath of Derrick Henry’s foot injury that likely puts an end to his season. While this was Peterson’s first true opportunity to come back into the league, he did have other options available to him. 

Peterson’s agent, Ron Slavin of SportStars, told Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network that as the running back was training in an attempt to play in his 15th season, a representative from “Dancing with the Stars” reached out to see if he would be interested in a stint on the show. With “Dancing with the Stars” being one of the more popular shows on TV and several hundred thousand dollars to be made with an appearance, it was certainly worth considering. 

However, given that this call came in early September, Peterson wanted to put his full attention towards trying to latch on with a team and continue his playing career. As Peterson turned down that opportunity, things eventually aligned where he was able to get back into the league as he’s set to help Tennessee’s running game try and cushion the blow of losing their focal point of the offense in Henry. 

Peterson was initially signed to the Titans practice squad following a workout and has since been elevated to the active roster. 

“I feel good,” Peterson said this week. “If they call my number, I’m going to go out there and contribute any way that I can. I do a great job of keeping myself prepared for a moment like this.”

Peterson spent all of last season with the Detroit Lions. In 16 games (10 starts), he totaled 604 yards rushing and seven touchdowns. He also added 12 catches on 18 targets for 101 yards.
