Who’s Playing
Miami (Fla.) @ Southern California
Regular Season Records: Miami (Fla.) 23-10; Southern California 26-7
What to Know
The Miami (Fla.) Hurricanes and the #22 Southern California Trojans are set to clash at 3:10 p.m. ET March 18 at Bon Secours Wellness Arena in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
It was close but no cigar for the Hurricanes as they fell 80-76 to the Duke Blue Devils last Friday. Miami (Fla.)’s defeat shouldn’t obscure the performances of guard Jordan Miller, who posted a double-double on 17 points and 13 rebounds, and guard Kameron McGusty, who had 24 points along with seven boards.
Meanwhile, the Trojans came up short against the UCLA Bruins last week, falling 69-59. Forward Isaiah Mobley wasn’t much of a difference maker for USC; Mobley finished with only nine points on 4-for-11 shooting in his 38 minutes on the court.
A couple numbers to keep in mind before tip-off: The Hurricanes enter the matchup with only 9.6 turnovers per game on average, good for eighth best in college basketball. Less enviably, USC is stumbling into the game with the fewest takeaways in college basketball, having accrued only ten on average.
