Who’s Playing
San Antonio @ Miami
Current Records: San Antonio 24-36; Miami 39-21
What to Know
The San Antonio Spurs haven’t won a game against the Miami Heat since Jan. 19 of 2020, but they’ll be looking to end the drought Saturday. The Spurs’ road trip will continue as they head to FTX Arena at 8 p.m. ET to face off against Miami. The odds don’t look promising for San Antonio, but the bigger the opponent is, the harder they fall.
It may have taken double overtime to finish the job, but San Antonio ultimately got the result they were hoping for on Friday with a 157-153 win over the Washington Wizards. Center Jakob Poeltl and point guard Dejounte Murray were among the main playmakers for San Antonio as the former almost posted a triple-double on 28 points, 11 rebounds, and eight dimes and the latter dropped a triple-double on 31 points, 14 assists, and 13 boards. Murray now has 12 triple-doubles this year.
Meanwhile, Miami strolled past the New York Knicks with points to spare on Friday, taking the contest 115-100. The Heat relied on the efforts of center Bam Adebayo, who posted a double-double on 16 points and 16 boards along with four blocks, and point guard Tyler Herro, who had 25 points in addition to seven boards. That makes it five consecutive games in which Adebayo has had at least ten rebounds.
The wins brought the Spurs up to 24-36 and Miami to 39-21. A couple stats to keep in the back of your head while watching: San Antonio comes into the matchup boasting the second fewest fouls per game in the league at 17.9. But Miami enters the contest with 20.5 fouls drawn per game on average, good for third best in the league. The ref’s whistle might dictate the flow of action in this one.
