What to Know
The SMU Mustangs will be returning home after a two-game road trip. SMU and the Memphis Tigers will face off in an American Athletic battle at 3 p.m. ET on Sunday at Moody Coliseum. The Mustangs are out to keep their 12-game home win streak alive.
SMU came up short against the Temple Owls on Wednesday, falling 64-57. Guard Emmanuel Bandoumel had a pretty forgettable game, finishing with only six points on 2-for-10 shooting in his 36 minutes on the court.
Meanwhile, Memphis was able to grind out a solid victory over the Cincinnati Bearcats on Tuesday, winning 81-74. Memphis got double-digit scores from five players: guard Tyler Harris (15), guard Landers Nolley II (13), center Jalen Duren (13), guard Lester Quinones (12), and forward Josh Minott (10).
SMU is now 18-6 while the Tigers sit at 15-8. A pair of defensive numbers to keep in mind before tip-off: The Mustangs have been holding their opponents to a field goal percentage of 39.80%, which places them 25th in college basketball. But Memphis is even better: they have been holding their opponents to a field goal percentage of 39.20%, which places them 20th in college basketball.
