Andy Reid and the Kansas City Chiefs are not lacking any motivation in their pursuit of a third straight Super Bowl appearance. The Chiefs’ 2021 postseason got off to a good start on Sunday night, as Kansas City posted a 42-21 win over the Steelers in the AFC wild card round. Reid and his team are two wins away from joining the 1971-73 Dolphins, 1990-93 Bills and the 2016-18 Patriots as the only teams to appear in three consecutive Super Bowls.

Reid was asked if his team has the same championship hunger as they prepare for next weekend’s divisional round showdown against the Bills. As only he can do, Reid used a classic food metaphor to convey his team’s hunger for another Super Bowl.

“If you have a piece of chocolate cake, and you see another dangling in front of you, you’re going to want it,” Reid said, via Aaron Ladd of NBC Sports Kansas City. “That’s how you feel about the Super Bowl … it is the ultimate chocolate cake.”

Reid made a similar food reference following Kansas City’s Week 16 win over Pittsburgh when asked about Byron Pringle’s two touchdown catches.

“I love that like a big piece of prime rib,” Reid said. “That’s how we get excited. When everybody is working together, you’re tough to stop.”

Reid notoriously celebrated the Chiefs’ Super Bowl LIV victory by getting “the biggest cheeseburger you’ve ever seen.” It’s safe to say that Reid would love to celebrate another Super Bowl win with a cheeseburger while saving room for a slice of chocolate cake.
