Manchester City are the latest Premier League team to be dealing with a COVID-19 outbreak. Phil Foden missed their 2-1 victory over Arsenal last weekend, and now the total number of players and staff who have to isolate away from the team has ballooned to 21, the club announced. That number includes seven first-team players, as well as manager Pep Guardiola, who tested positive. It’s unclear how many players tested positive.
Guardiola miss Friday’s FA Cup fixture with Swindon Town. As the FA Cup has different rules of postponing matches than the Premier League or League Cup, the match is expected to go ahead as scheduled as long as both teams have 14 fit players including youth sides.
Assistant coach Juanma Lillo has also recorded a positive test, and Rodolfo Borrell is expected to lead Manchester City on their trip to Swindon Town.
Elsewhere, Nottingham Forest are currently dealing with an outbreak that could impact their tie with Arsenal on Sunday. There are 32 third-round FA Cup fixtures scheduled for the weekend.
