Tuesday night football is upon us, and both of Week 15’s delayed games have serious playoff implications. Eagles vs. Washington, the NFC East showdown on tap, has the potential to reshape the entire NFC wild card race. Philadelphia is rested up after its bye and has won four of its last six dating to Halloween, with Jalen Hurts set to return under center after Gardner Minshew filled in against the Jets. Washington, meanwhile, has a manageable path to the NFC’s final playoff spot — were it not for a rash of injuries and COVID cases that could have them starting a quarterback they just signed days ago.

Does Ron Rivera’s depth-tested Football Team have enough bodies, let alone talent, to go into Philly and steal an important divisional game? Or are Nick Sirianni’s Eagles primed to return to the spotlight in front of their home crowd?

We’ve got you covered below with odds, predictions, key questions, information on how to watch, and more:

How to watch

Date: Tuesday, Dec. 21 | Time: 7 p.m. ET
Location: Lincoln Financial Field (Philadelphia)
TV:
FOX | Stream: fuboTV (try for free)
Follow: CBS Sports App
Odds: Eagles -6.5, O/U 42

Key questions

  • Will Jalen Hurts be ready to run? Hurts is expected back after missing the Eagles’ last outing with an ankle sprain. The question is, will he be at full health? The young QB has found mixed results as a passer but thrived as a ball-carrier.
  • Who will play QB for Washington? Game-day questions don’t get more important than this. Taylor Heinicke is trying to gut out both COVID and a knee injury. Backup Kyle Allen also tested positive for COVID. They could end up starting and/or needing Garrett Gilbert, who just signed off the Patriots’ practice squad Friday; or Kyle Shurmur, from their own scout team.
  • Who else can make plays for Washington? Seriously. Even if they pull off a miracle at QB, Football Team has other key players — Brandon Scherff, Curtis Samuel, J.D. McKissic — either banged up or already ruled out.

Prediction

Latest Odds: Philadelphia Eagles -6.5

Powered by Caesars Sportsbook

The Eagles may not be true contenders right now, but they’ve proven they can not only edge but beat up on inferior teams this year, and Washington probably qualifies considering the war of attrition they’re losing. Rivera will surely have his guys ready to play chippy no matter what, and getting Jonathan Allen and Montez Sweat back helps. But Philly’s defense is too opportunistic to bet against in this spot, potentially against one or more emergency QBs, and Hurts is poised to showcase his play-making ability after two weeks away from action.

Pick: Eagles 27, Washington 15
