50 Cent teases Final Lap tour: “It’s gonna be a whole new show”

2023 marks 20 years since 50 Cent‘s debut Get Rich or Die Tryin’, which he jokes is an indication that he’s “getting old.” He’s celebrating with an anniversary tour, but wants fans to know “it’s gonna be a whole new show.”

“Sometimes out of habit, you go to certain records,” 50 tells USA Today. “People love other things on it, so I wanna make sure I touch those records before I don’t do those anymore.”

He’s excluding the upside down crunches from his “In Da Club” video, especially after doing it at last year’s Super Bowl.

“I think that was a mistake for the Super Bowl,” 50 says. “Everybody else walked in regular … and I had to put myself upside down.” He joked that someone should have intervened, as falling would have led to several memes.

Get Rich or Die Tryin’ dropped in February 2003, and finds 50 rapping and singing, which he says helps international fans jam to his music.

“If you’re gonna make music that is going to be world music, it has to have melodies. English is not their first speaking language in a lot of places that I travel. What [those crowds] follow is the melody until they understand what you’re saying,” 50 explains.

While he doesn’t consider the rapping/singing combo to be revolutionary, he believes Drake “is the new, stronger version” of an artist who puts that skill to practice.

Elsewhere in the interview, 50 credits Jam Master Jay for helping him perfect his craft.

He says he’d like to work with Nicki Minaj and Eminem (again), shares his thoughts on a Drake collab and discusses retiring from music, which he says he’s already done “several times.”

50’s tour, featuring Jeremih and Busta Rhymes, kicks off July 21 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
