Odell Beckham Jr. has been vital toward the Los Angeles Rams‘ Super Bowl run, picking Sunday’s NFC Championship Game to savor his biggest moment in his NFL career. Beckham finished with nine catches for 113 yards in the Rams’ 20-17 victory over the San Francisco 49ers, the first 100-yard game he’s recorded since Week 6 of the 2019 season.
The comeback for Beckham has been years in the making, especially after his disastrous two-plus seasons with the Cleveland Browns.
“He’s such a special player, so smart, so talented, so gifted. And he’s brought such a charisma and presence and really a swag to our team,” Rams head coach Sean McVay said after the win Sunday. “Love Odell. Really just happy for him.
“To be able to go over 100 (yards). He had some key and critical catches to be able to extend drives. The one down the left sideline where they were playing split safety, kind of reading the coverage. And the player didn’t get over the top, and he ends up adding on an extra 15 with the late hit.”
Beckham had just 17 catches for 232 yards with no touchdown catches in his six games with the Browns. He turned his season around with the Rams, having 27 catches for 305 yards and five touchdowns in eight games. In the postseason, Beckham has 19 catches for 236 yards and a touchdown in three games.
Now, he’s going to his first Super Bowl.
“Everything about this place is right and it’s done right,” Beckham said. “And it’s just been an incredible opportunity. I’m just trying to make the most of it and here we are playing in the Super Bowl — one game away from our dreams.”
