The 2021 World Series has arrived. The Houston Astros will square off against the Atlanta Braves in the Fall Classic starting on Tuesday. Both the Astros and Braves won their LCS matchups in six games. The NL East champion Braves took out the defending champion Dodgers in the NLCS to capture their first NL pennant since 1999. The AL West champion Astros Astros took out the Red Sox in the ALCS and are playing in the World Series for the third time in five years. Game 1 is set for Tuesday night in Houston with a pitching matchup of Framber Valdez (Astros) vs. Charlie Morton (Braves).
The 2021 MLB playoffs mark a return to some sense of normalcy for the sport. Gone are the neutral sites, the fan-less games, and the 16-team format; the concepts of home-field advantage and sellouts are back, and so is the 10-team field. The Yankees and Cardinals bowed out in the Wild Card Games.
